About AIEEE

The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), is an examination organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India. The AIEEE is one of most competitive engineering entrance exams in India. It is organised by CBSE for undergraduate students aiming to get admission in top level institutes like NITs, IIITs and other prominent universities and institutions for Undergraduate Engineering Courses & Architecture programmes.


Introduced in the year 2002, this national level competitive test is for admission to various under-graduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the AIEEE score, including 5 Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) and 30 National Institutes of Technology (NITs). The examination is generally held on the last Sunday of April and results are announced in the last week of May or the first week of June. Candidates are ranked on an all-India basis and state basis. Thus, they have an All India Rank (AIR) and a State Rank (SR).


AIEEE 2012


According to the latest press release by CBSE, the AIEEE 2012 exam dates for NITs, IIT & other top engineering universities for admission in B. E./B.Tech. and B.Arch./B. Planning courses has been confirmed. The 11th AIEEE offline exam will be held on by CBSE on 29th April 2012 & online exam from 7th-25th May across 22 cities.


Exam Pattern: BE/B.Tech: AIEEE exam duration is of 3 hours. The pattern of the exam is objective type. The objective questions are being asked from Class XI and XII Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Equal weightage is given to all the subjects. Each question has four options and students have to choose the right option among the available. There is negative marking of marks for each wrong answer.

About CAT

Common Admission Test (CAT) is all-India national level test conducted by IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management) as entrance exam for admission to leading business schools and management institutes of the country. management programmes. CAT is one of the toughest management entrance examinations in India, conducted by the elite Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for admission to 2-year full time Post Graduate Programs in Management. Apart from IIMs, there are other premier B-Schools, like IITs, FMS and IISc., etc., which accept CAT scores for admission to their respective management programs.


CAT (IIM) Exam Pattern: CAT 2011 had only two sections. The first section is Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation; the second section is Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning. These two sections will be implemented sequentially with separate time limits. The examination was for 140 minutes. Candidates had 70 minutes to answer 30 questions within each section which have an on-screen countdown timer. Within the 70 min provided for the section, candidates can review the answers also. Once the time ends for the first section, they had to move to the second section and will no longer be able to go back. Candidates will have to wait till Wednesday, 11 January 2012, for their CAT 2011 results. Based on CAT percentile score, candidates are called for next stage of selection rejection process which usually consists of Group Discussion, Essay and Personal Interview (GDPI). CAT is multiple-choice based test with penalties for wrong answers.


CAT Eligibility: The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) (It may also referred to as Persons with Disability (PWD) category)], awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree.
